INTRODUCING – Layla BV

This little gem of a songstress has been on my radar for a good few years now.

A kind of crossover with pop, dance and R&B overtures Layla BV‘s music is sure to set any dance floor alight, and keep you there, just think those 90’s and 00’s Ibiza/Creamfields and you’ll be pretty close.

From the heart of Merseyside, Layla has worked with a number of artists and record labels, at home and abroad, whilst continuing to carve her own, unique niche in the cut-throat music industry, but with a voice as powerful and proud as hers is, it’s nothing short of remarkable that she hasn’t made the big stages, yet!

Brought up on the sounds of the seventies and eighties through her parents there is one particular track which resonated through her early years, the mid-sixties classic California Dreamin’ by The Mamas & The Papas.

Speaking of that introduction to, and her tastes in music, Layla said:

“Yes that song was given to me by my dad and I would listen to it all the time.

“I just loved the melodies and the lyrics within it; funnily enough its a song that came up in high school choir, which we later recorded at a studio in Liverpool.

“My tastes haven’t changed too much. I’ve always been very diverse in my musical tastes but I still love ballads, pop and rock among many favourites, although now classical is something of my guilty pleasure. I just find it very meaningful and peaceful.”

With a penchant for alternation hair colours to suit her ever-changing moods (there’s a few styles in this piece alone) it’s not distracted from her passion, and love, for the music industry, a passion which certainly sheds a tear within her loving heart.

Finding music at the age of five, Layla has followed the dream within – tracks such as Pieces, After the Sun Sets, and Dreams, proving testament to her continued ability to produce, and to do with stylish sophistication and a stunning sound to match.

Speaking of those three tracks Layla added:

“Pieces was a song I wrote based on what most people have experienced in their lives,

“Whether you’re in a relationship or with someone whom they were close to; it was also something I have been through myself previously so I wanted to get my thoughts and feelings within that song.

“I was surprised how everybody responded and everyone very much enjoyed it and I received comments saying how they felt that it resonated with them and their situations, how they have been through things exactly like that, and how it seemed that I was singing about their life.

“This made me really happy as I felt I connected with people without realising I had at first.

“After The Suns Sets was another song in which I wasn’t sure how it would do.

“This song was wrote to connect with people but also to get people up and dancing and to feel happy.

“I really enjoyed recording this song and is about a girl who likes a boy, he has a girlfriend but he likes her too and they sneak off so that they can be together.

“It’s a bit of a cheeky song but I think that’s what makes the song so enjoyable; as well as the popping beats within the melody.”

But what about Dreams, your dreams, we all have them…

Layla is no different and the release of Dreams last year was to be a new start for her, whilst 2019 will kick-start that into effect. Slightly different to usual music releases, it takes her deeper into the pop genre, and shows that she can continue to adapt to the ever-changing surroundings she finds herself striving to achieve her ‘Dreams’ within.

“Dreams honestly is about my life, it’s about how I have overcome so many things, how I have struggled, and how, through things beyond my control, I have come out stronger and fighting more than ever.

“Dreams is about myself taking that journey to achieve what I have always wanted to no matter what holds you back, whether internally or externally.

“I want people to see that they can achieve their dreams and be strong no matter what their circumstances.

“I want to give people hope that dreams can and do come true and just to believe in yourself and put yourself out there.

“You don’t know unless you try right?”

AMEN TO THAT SISTER!!
