Lovely World release new single, You Know Darlin’

Stateside and the band that is Lovely World have released their brand new single, You Know Darlin,’ under Dark Spark Music auspices; read the latest now…..

When Life Gives You Hell, I’ll Be Waiting Holding All That Fell -”You Know Darlin’”, Lovely World

On March 12, South Carolina’s Lovely World will proudly unveil their new single “You Know Darlin’” via Dark Spark Music (owned and operated by veteran rock manager Vicky Hamilton) / Brookstone Party Music. The song is available for pre-order here.

Formed in 2015, Lovely World (Landon Rojas, Cade Rojas, Cameron Smith and Michael Gilbert, who are all in their early 20s) built their musical foundation on their love of 70s music and new school rock. “You Know Darlin’” continues this trajectory. Produced by Rick Parker (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Dandy Warhols), the song musically and lyrically presents a deep meditation on relationships, despair, and escapism, delivered through vivid, emotional lyrics and melodic expression. Working with the band led Parker to express that “Landon has one of those voices that you don’t care what he is selling, but you are going to buy it.”

Vocalist / guitarist / songwriter Landon Rojas shares that the song was inspired by “all the strong women in my life….Let’s face it, 2020 has been a real horror show, but we can all name a few women who have helped us keep the puzzle pieces together. ‘You Know Darlin’’ is a tribute to those women.”

Landon Rojas and his brother / drummer Cade Rojas have been close friends with lead guitarist Cameron Smith since elementary school; Bassist Michael Gilbert joined in 2019. These Spartanburg-based young musicians blended their musical tastes with deep lyrics reflecting a consciousness beyond their years. Expressing the tumultuous natures of unrequited love, drug addiction, social afflictions, and political etiquette through a prism of dramatic harmonies, passionate lyrics, and solid musicianship, Lovely World has created a sound that begs further listening.

Additionally, Vicky Hamilton describes the song as “…so good and poignant, it brings you to tears…the lyrics of this song are so beautiful and full of hope while acknowledging the pain of working through many hardships — enduring, pressing on, in the uncertain drudgery of daily life”.

Lovely World has been amassing a groundswell of fans and buzz over the past two years. Their recent single “Don’t Lay Me Down” has garnered almost 75,000 streams. Their Heart In A Cage EP is currently at 100,000 streams across multiple platforms.

Dallas star, Clio Cadence, releases debut single, Drive

As a teen rock star, Dallas’ Clio Cadence already has the world at her feet, and following last years’ cover of the Billie Ellish track, You Should See Me In A Crown, her stock has increased immeasurably.

Drive, Cadence’s first, original release as a solo musician, sees her delve into the realms of relationship abuse and toxicity, with incredible effect. It is a track that is directed by Michael Orlando, shot by Zachary Christopherr, and sees Cadence appear alongside actor Johnathon Cainee, a trio who Cadence says: “had great ideas for the scenes, and I’m so glad I could have such creative minds on set with me. Johnathon Cainee was the actor and did a great job getting into character.”

Since first meeting up with Clio in New York back in late ’17, her path has been both busy, and somewhat indifferent, in a way, something she calls “a wild ride,” and that it has been, but she’s never lost, or even shunned her fan-base, in fact it’s increased considerably over the past 24 months.

“It has been a wild ride since we first met at my bands show in New York a few years back” smiled Cadence.

“Since then, I’ve branched out into creating my own original music as ‘Clio Cadence,’ and I’ve just dropped my first original song ‘DRIVE’, alongside a music video.

“It has been so exciting getting to show the world who I am and my thoughts and beliefs through my music.”

With continued support from her family, mother Dawn (pictured) and father Chris, as well as kid sister Cara, Clio has grown exponentially, both as a musician, and as a person, becoming a role model to many not just in her home state of Texas, but further afield.

A lot of that can be credited to both her love of travelling, and talking, which she’s been doing in abundance, adding: “I’ve been back and forth between Los Angeles and Dallas, which has been so much fun and I love traveling, as well as vlogging my experiences on my YouTube channel.

“Last summer, I toured the US and Canada and had some unforgettable experiences performing and meeting amazing people.”

But what about the important things, the music in Cadence’s life, and her new single, DRIVE (video below).

“I wrote the track about a toxic relationship I found myself in.

“I was shoved into the street and decided enough was enough.

“There’s so many two-faced people out there, it is so sad; they’ll tell you that they love you, but still abuse you, so I wanted to create awareness of this and let listeners know that they can ‘DRIVE’ away from their situation, or let the toxicity drive away.

“(Considering the sensitive nature of the track) the fun (of creating the whole package) is in the process!

“I love song-writing, and being able to record my thoughts in the studio to pick the perfect take.

“The video shoot itself was so much fun and I love dressing up and being in front of the camera; I always have and can’t wait to do it all again.”

With more, original music already in the pipeline, are we to soon see the release of Clio Cadence’s debut album, let’s hope so.

Emerging South Carolina rockers, Lovely World, to release Edge of Time

Hailing from South Carolina, the Landon Rojas-fronted rock band, Lovely World, released their new single, Edge of Time, on February 14.

With attention firmly increasing across the south-eastern USA on the quartet, Landon (vocals, guitar), being joined in the band by Michael Gilbert (bass), Cameron Smith (guitar), and Cade Rojas (drums), Lovely World’s Valentine’s release is expected to catapult them into a wider, more global consciousness.

Speaking of the upcoming release, Landon Rojas, lead singer of Lovely World, said: “Thanks to EGH for playing Lovely World!

“This is a big opportunity for us and we’ve grown up listening to rock bands that originated in the UK.

“I think music fans there, and across Europe, will relate to Lovely World and if the rock scene is lacking, then it is because bands today are lacking the authenticity in their song-writing.”

Produced by the esteemed Rick Parker (Lord Huron, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club), the new single, Edge of Time, aims to tell an honest story of a girl who survived poverty and prostitution through the love and care of a childhood friend.

The guitarist of Lovely World, Cameron Smith, added: “Lovely World’s music is organic, from the heart and makes people feel good.

“We can’t wait to play to a crowd (in Europe) that understands the rock scene, you better lock up your daughters!”

Containing uplifting lyrics –

Till the end of the earth

Till your eyes go blind

Till your heart bleeds out

Till the sun don’t shine

Till the lord himself gives me a sign

I’m going to be the one to keep you afloat

I’ll shield you the fire, through the flames, and smoke

I’ll hold you like a baby so your soul doesn’t choke

I would lose everything just to let you know

That it’s going to be alright

Formed in 2015 the quartet, made up of the Rojas brothers, Landon, 22, and Cade, 21, alongside Smith, 21, and Gilbert, 23, attended the acclaimed Springboard Music Festival, Memphis, in the summer of 2019 where they were spotted, and immediately snapped up by legendary music manager, and the owner of Dark Spark Music, Vicky Hamilton.

Boasting a unique rock sound that is daringly honest and powerful the four-piece are seen to draw inspiration from that of The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Jeff Buckley, and Led Zeppelin Vicky, who was behind the careers of Guns N’ Roses, Faster Pussycat, Poison, among others, added: “I found Lovely World at Springboard Conference in Memphis; they were very new then but I just had a feeling they were going to be amazing within a year.

“Seven months later their growth is off the charts; they have made a beautiful record, toured across the USA, and are getting lots of industry attention, they are also a great live band, fun to watch.

“I’m very proud of them and I honestly feel that this time next year people will know their names and I really can’t wait to bring them to England very soon.

“I’ve worked with a lot of great rock bands and consider Lovely World to be one of my best.”

Lovely World have recently finished their east to west coast tour whilst they are yet to release upcoming dates of an East Coast tour. They will also be performing at an industry showcase which is set for April 9 at The Cutting Room, New York.

10cc Star, Graham Gouldman, announces first solo album in eight years, and accompanying UK tour

10cc’s Graham Gouldman will embark on a run of UK tour dates in March and April 2020 to coincide with the release of his first solo album in eight years.

Long-established as one of the world’s greatest songwriters, Graham’s 14-date tour with his semi-acoustic band Heart Full of Songs begins in Gateshead on 19th March and ends in Cardiff on 4th April, including a date at London’s Union Chapel on 26th March.

Graham’s new solo album – the fifth of his career, and his first since 2012’s ‘Love And Work’ – is scheduled for release on 20th March on British independent record label Lojinx.

With 10cc tours enjoying ever-increasing success around the world, in 2018 Graham was invited by The Beatles’ drummer Ringo Starr to join his All Starr Band for tours of Europe and the USA, during which the band played three 10cc songs, elevating Graham’s profile yet further.

That relationship continues, with Ringo making a very special guest appearance on Graham’s new album, playing drums on a song called ‘Standing Next To Me’.

Graham said, “Playing with Ringo Starr and The All Starr Band was absolutely brilliant, and having Ringo play drums on one of my new album’s songs was the icing on the cake.

“The song is about how I came to be asked to join his band, and about my experience of being on the road with Ringo alongside Steve Lukather, Colin Hay, Gregg Rolie, Warren Ham and Gregg Bissonette, who also plays drums on three of the album’s tracks.”

When Graham formed what became Heart Full of Songs it was purely for the pleasure of playing his songs in their simplest form: acoustically. The format became so popular that the acoustic four-piece undertook its first concert tour in April-May 2013.

The band now tours across Belgium, Germany, Holland and the UK and comprises Graham, Ciaran Jeremiah, Dave Cobby and either Iain Hornal, Nick Kendal or Andy Park, depending on their various commitments.

For lovers of perfectly-crafted music performed by the composer, a Heart Full of Songs concert is truly an exquisite experience, featuring 10cc classics such as I’m Not In Love, Dreadlock Holiday and The Things We Do For Love, Bus Stop – a hit for The Hollies, For Your Love (The Yardbirds) and Bridge To Your Heart (Wax), along with some new material.

Graham’s songwriting status was acknowledged in 2014 with his induction into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame – an arm of America’s National Academy of Music. Previous inductees include Noel Coward, Irving Berlin, Burt Bacharach, Neil Sedaka, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Leonard Cohen and Sting.

That was followed in 2015 by Broadcast Music Incorporated in the US anointed him an Icon of the Industry at a special ceremony in London, where he wowed the audience with an acoustic rendition of I’m Not In Love, accompanied by Lisa Stansfield on vocals.

Around that time, Graham got another unexpected lift. It happened backstage at the UK’s Cropredy Festival when Robert Plant walked up and thanked him for writing one of the songs that got him through the audition to join Led Zeppelin. The song was For Your Love.

Looking ahead to the tour, Graham said, “I always love taking my Heart Full Of Songs show on tour.

“Acoustic performances always create a very intimate atmosphere where every song – which is what it’s all about – can truly be heard.

“It also gives me a chance to explain how the songs came about and something of the writing process. We’ll see you there.”

Graham Gouldman‘s 2020 Heart Full of Songs tour will see him appearing at the following – Sage Two, Gateshead (March 19), Tivoli Theatre (March 20), Pleasance Theatre, Edinburgh (March 21), St. Luke’s, Glasgow (March 22), Core Theatre, Solihull (March 24), City Varities, Leeds (March 25), Union Chapel, London (March 26), St. George’s, Brighton (March 27), Theatr Colwyn, Colwyn (March 29), Epstein Theatre, Liverpool (March 30), The Stables, Wavendon (April 1), Royal National College of Music, Manchester (April 2), St. George’s, Bristol (April 3),  and The Gate, Cardiff (April 4)

The Who announce UK tour, including Newcastle date

In releasing a brand new album, on Polydor Records, this November, legendary rock band, The Who, have announced a UK Arena tour, with full orchestra, for the Spring (March/April) 2020, appearing at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena on March 21.

The Who has one of the greatest rock legacies in music history, they’re one of the all-time great live bands, have sold over 100 million records world including 9 US & 10 UK top ten albums and 14 UK top ten singles in a career spanning six decades.

Now fifty-five years after they made their first recordings, The Who is back with their first new album in thirteen years entitled WHO due for release on 22nd November 2019 and is preceded by BALL AND CHAIN, which is available on all streaming services now. Following their triumphant return to Wembley Stadium in July, The Who will also embark on a full UK Arena Tour in March/April 2020.

The eleven-track album was mostly recorded in London and Los Angeles during Spring and Summer 2019 and was co-produced by Pete Townshend & D. Sardy (who has worked with Noel Gallagher, Oasis, LCD Soundsystem, Gorillaz) with vocal production by Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Roger Daltrey, Wilko Johnson).

Singer Roger Daltrey and guitarist and songwriter Pete Townshend are joined on the album by long-time Who drummer Zak Starkey, bassist Pino Palladino along with contributions from Simon Townshend, Benmont Tench, Carla Azar, Joey Waronker and Gordon Giltrap.

The artwork for WHO was unveiled last night in New York at the opening of the brand new eight-storey Pace contemporary art gallery where the band also performed a short acoustic set. The album cover has been created by famed pop artist, Sir Peter Blake who first met the band in 1964 at a taping of the legendary TV show Ready Steady Go. Sir Peter designed and contributed a painting to the sleeve of The Who’s album Face Dances in 1981.

The songs on WHO cover a myriad of subjects including the Grenfell Tower fire, musical theft, spirituality, reincarnation, the power of memory and ‘an old rock star that has lost his marbles.’

Singer Roger Daltrey rates it amongst their strongest, saying: “I think we’ve made our best album since Quadrophenia in 1973.

“Pete hasn’t lost it, he’s still a fabulous songwriter, and he’s still got that cutting edge.”

Pete Townshend said: “This album is almost all new songs written last year, with just two exceptions.

“There is no theme, no concept, no story, just a set of songs that I (and my brother Simon) wrote to give Roger Daltrey some inspiration, challenges and scope for his newly revived singing voice. Roger and I are both old men now, by any measure, so I’ve tried to stay away from romance, but also from nostalgia if I can.

“I didn’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. Memories are OK, and some of the songs refer to the explosive state of things today.

“I made new home studio demos of all these songs in the summer of 2018 using a wide collection of instruments old and new.

“We started recording as The Who in March 2019, and have finished now in late August just in time to make some vinyl………maybe even some cassettes……ready for release in November.”

Two songs on the record the epic ‘Ball And Chain’ and string-laden ‘Hero Ground Zero’ recently got their world premiere when the band played with a 40-piece orchestra to a packed Wembley Stadium. Spring 2020 will see the band embarking on a UK tour featuring an orchestra.

Tickets will go on sale 10.00am Friday 20th September and are available online, from the booking hotline number 0844 493 6666* or from 11.00am in person from the Utilita Arena Box Office. Venus set to release Deranged

Punk-rockers, Venus, set to release debut single, ‘Deranged.’

Leeds-based, all-girl punk band, Venus, are to release their debut single, Deranged, with a launch show at the Hyde Park Book Club in Leeds on 26 January.

Originating from three different parts of the UK, Venus are Grace Kelly (vocals), Hannah Barraclough (bass), Jess Ayres (guitar), Grace Stubbings (synths) and Gabby Cooke (drums), and met during their respective tenures at the Leeds College of Music, enjoying their first gig together less than twelve months ago (they supported Peach Club at Leeds’ Lending Room in February 2018).

“There’s always been female rock musicians, all-girl bands, but they’ve not had the recognition they deserve,” states Grace Kelly.

“So, with our debut single, we want to make an impression, not only as to who we are, but also what we are about.

“It’s a double edged sword really as we’re not only promoting ‘Deranged,’ we’re also promoting the band as a whole.”

Although still relatively new to cut-throat world of the music industry Venus have recently been signed to Leeds label, Monomyth Records and their debut offering, ‘Deranged’ hits at the launch show at the Hyde Park Book Club on Saturday 26 January, tickets are £5, and are available from HERE

Twister to play Sage Gateshead

“I’ve been to a few shows there but this is the first time that Twister will have performed the Sage.”

That is the opening gambit from Twister front-man, Stevie Stoker, as his pop rock quartet, and friends, get set to play Sage Two at the end of December.

Formed by lead vocalist Stoker over a decade ago Twister has seen it all, and done much more, performing at home, and abroad, and most recently, the Lindos Festival in Greece.

In releasing their Combined State of Mind Collection, over eighteen months ago, they embedded classic tracks such as Trees, 64 White Lies, Crossfire, and their latest single release, Trading Hearts, into the psyche of the many, the latter being released at the same which 64 White Lies was twelve months prior.

“Releasing Trading Hearts was the last single of the State of Mind Collection before we look at, and begin releasing new music,” admitted Stevie.

“It’s now close to two years since the album was released and, although the traction from it has been really good, it’s time for the next chapter in the Twister story.”

That new chapter is set to begin amidst their maiden outing at Sage Gateshead as Stoker, alongside fellow band member Jake Grimes, Ryan Lee, and drummer Joe Major, look to perform not only some Twister classics, but also roll out a few new offerings.

“This is going to be a very much raising the bar kind of show, and with us, you never know quite what’ll happen,” continued Stevie.

“It’s an amazing feeling when a venue as prestigious as the Sage Gateshead ask you to do a show there.

“Each time we plan a show we try and add more to it; we want people to come and have a great experience, not just to see a gig.

“Now, we can’t wait to show people what we’ve been working on and get a sneak preview of what 2019 has in store.”

Twister, plus The Escapades and Nephilim, perform at Sage Gateshead on Saturday 29 December; a VIP performance is available from 6:30pm with tickets priced at £15 whilst the main show begins at 7:30pm – you can purchase tickets from the lads or SAGE WEBSITE

4 Shots EP – Collateral

4 Shots and you’re totally blown away as Angelo Tristan and Collateral smash this EP from all angles.

The opening salvo of Going with the Wind has an essence of the classic rock ballads of a bygone era running through its core, the vocals, and that guitar, sending goosebumps right through the body whilst Midnight Queen is a personal favourite, and rightly so.

The Queen herself is one of those that can be played with the top down and blasting those US highways north to south and back again; Angels Crying is a totally different dimension as the dial is turned to great benefit and offers a more ‘Bon Jovi-esque sound’ before finishing with Just Waiting For You.

It’s by this time you’re unsure what they’ve got left and Just Waiting For You, this brings the whole package full circle, a finale deserving any record. I’m sure that 4 Shots has just ripped out my musical soul, spun it, and made me gasping for more…

Whatever you think you know about rock music, these guys have just rewritten it in four tracks so, just do one thing, learn the words and turn up the volume – it’s a classic!

Bitter Enemies ‘Broadcast’ new EP

Newcastle’s alternative rock five-piece, Bitter Enemies, have released their new, three track EP, Broadcast.

Led by vocalist Ian ‘Max Kreetcha’ Maxwell, and guitarist Richie Hutchinson, the pair formed Bitter Enemies in 2016, and have followed up on their previous offering, Newborn, with this current masterpiece.

Joined by Peter Snowdon (lead guitar), Keith Mills (bass) and Jae Brookes (drums) the lads entertained the local scene before locking themselves away to put this, consisting of Maddie, Vipers and Won’t Be Pretty For Long, their second EP out to the masses.

“We’ve taken our shared influences of electro-industrial music and alternative rock, and created BROADCAST, a blend of old and new, light and dark,” began Max.

“From the haunting ode to an often forgotten Twin Peaks character ‘Maddie,’ the Battlestar Galactica themed, electro-rock song and Kara “Starbuck” Thrace inspired ‘Vipers,’ or the fight or die spirit of True Romance’s Alabama Whorley in ‘Won’t Be Pretty For Long,’ BROADCAST is a celebration of big and small screen, and the women that inhabit the worlds held within!”

Adding to Max’s insight into the themes of Broadcast, Richie describes it as a deliberate progression of the Bitter Enemies ethos in the ever-changing industry.

“It’s a collection of songs that have a thematic and aural connection but they’re not wholly representative of how we sound as a band, although there are hints and nods within each one of what you’ll hear in the future,” explains Richie.

“We’re looking at using BROADCAST to give people a peek into our world and we’re already working on the next one. We have tonnes of material, we just need to get the recording finished.”

BROADCAST, the new three-track EP from Bitter Enemies is available now. You can follow Bitter Enemies on Facebook and Twitter  whilst the EP is available on iTunes
