Relentless announce Fight Night

A Relentless march forward in May for Tyneside boxing

With an announcement imminent of a summer boxing blockbuster on the banks of the Tyne, Relentless Promotions can first say that their next promotion, in association with Fighting Chance, will be at the Lancastrian Suite, Dunston on May 1.

Coming in the immediate aftermath of what is hoped to be a more than successful ‘Geordie Roar’ Messers Wraith and Cox will roll out some of Tyneside’s finest for ‘Friday Fight Night.’

Not only will fight fans receive some high quality action on the night there will also be some scope for some entertainment and dinner for the VIP contingent as the Tyneside promotions continue to make their mark on the regional fight game.

“It’s great that we are able to get back out again, and on this side of the water,” began promoter Steve Wraith.

“We can already confirm five Tyneside fighters, four of which are part of the rapidly rising Fighting Chance stable in Felling as Basi Razaq will be joined by Craig Dixon, Andrew Buchanan, Lewis Scott and Paul O’Hagan.”

These five fighters have had mixed fortunes of late; Razaq remained unbeaten despite a draw and Buchanan won his last outing, on the other hand Dixon was narrowly edged in a Northern Area title fight, Scott was badly injured in a reverse as was O’Hagan on his comeback after a lengthy spell out.

“I’m excited to be able to promote Scott again” Wraith continued.

“I’m convinced he’ll get back in the driving seat and good fighters do recover from something like that so he certainly can. If he gets into the best shape possible then he can be the star of the show.

“Buchanan will be looking for another step up after some decent results of late and we’re all definitely hoping for titles from him before the end of the year; Dixon meanwhile will be looking to put that derby reverse behind him.”

Wraith is effectively returning home with this show and, being a Dunston resident knows all too well the power of the fight community. Going to the Lancastrian Suite takes him back to the scene of his very first outing, in March 2010, when he co-promoted with his local rival.

Now it’s another step forward but with awareness of the pitfalls the fight game presents knows what the Relentless Promotions management require in order to progress.

“Boxing is a sport where there is minimal finances at a local level,” he continued.

“It’s all about the fighters being able to make their break and, although supporters pay to see the home fighter win there’s been disappointments and it doesn’t always work like that. But we’re going back to the Lancastrian with this one where I put on my first and that makes it sentimental for me.”

With Ideala Health already on board as a sponsor for ‘Friday Fight Night’ other interested parties are urged to contact Relentless Promotions Media Officer, Peter Mann, via email as soon as possible.
