Rising Stars Announcement – Jeff Pulled

It is with the utmost regret that Relentless Promotions management, Steve Wraith and Danny Cox, have made the announcement today that Jeff Saunders will not be making his debut on the Rising Stars fight card later tonight.

The Sedgefield paratrooper was expected to headline the show but instead, due to a delay in paperwork, will have to wait until April 4 at the Metro Arena in Newcastle to make his bow.

Both sides are understandably disappointed and deflated at the news which arrived last night and Relentless MD, Steve Wraith said: “Unfortunately, due to one piece of minor paperwork not passing in time Jeff Saunders will not be making his debut tonight.

“We are devastated that this has happened but he and his family will be at the show and we’ll keep up with the relationships we’ve developed with him. Jeff will be on one of our shows later in the year.”

Saunders, who won the ABA title at the historic Rainton Meadows show in 2013 was, although disappointed, upbeat about the news.

He added: “I’m absolutely devastated, you can’t understand how bad I feel right now.

“I’m gutted that this hasn’t come off after all the hard work everyone’s done and I’d like to thank everyone for getting behind me, the support has been unreal.

“Bradley has been amazing through all this; my mum Tracey is a godsend and deserves every ounce of credit; my coaches Mark McGuinness and my father Jeff Snr who do a great Job; and Ian Glass for some great Strength & Conditioning work over the past few months.

“I also have to give credit to my sponsors ESRG without who I wouldn’t be able to concentrate on training full time; and my management Daniel and Matthew Macklin at the MGM Marbella, we will do this.”

Now, for the Saunders camp, it’s on to April 4 and what looks like is written in the stars, two Saunders boys on one bill, Tracey’s heart will be having palpations, she loves it.

“I’d also like to thanks Steve (Wraith) and Danny (Cox) for this opportunity to be able to work alongside them and I look forward to doing more with them in the future,” Jeff continued.

“There’s no blame to put anywhere here, it’s just boxing and we will get there, I promise. My heart is set on this and I’ll make it up to everyone on April 4 with a KO in Newcastle.”

Doors open at 5pm and first bout still scheduled for 7pm.
